Using Garage Sales to Help Provide Entertainment for the Family

Garage sales are a great way to find cheap, fun activities for your family.
Wether it's providing your children with new toys like this 6ft floor piano you have to jump on to make the keys play
or craft activities such as playdough.
Garage sales will help you provide affordable entertainment for you and your family. I paid $2 dollars for the piano and it had never been opened I also paid $2 dollars for 16 tubs of play dough Some of which also had never been opened

Here's another fun idea!
C.J. and I thought it would be fun to take our girls out sledding this year. We gathered our snow sleds we found at garage sales last year put on our snow suits also found at garage sales and headed for the mountain.

SNOW DAY!
Me, C.J., and our girls Jaysa and Paisley. I found my snow pants at goodwill for $6!!!! They are such a cute color too I also found my snow boots at savers for $7.99
C.J. and Paisley. C.J.'s hat is from a garage sale and he found his pants at Savers for $9.99.
All of Paisley's snow clothes are from garage sales! Her snow pants I bought for $5! I don't really remember what I spent on the rest of her outfit but it wasn't more than a few bucks

Jaysa was obviously not impressed with the snow Jaysa's Jackets, beanie, gloves and boots are from a garage sale.
C.J. about to sled down the hill on one of our garage sale sleds. We bought two single man sleds for $2.50 a piece! All the foam snow sleds I looked up on Walmart.com were $30.00 and over!

Jaysa was not a fan of sledding either

Paisley didn't seem to mind it.
We also took Jaysa's old kitty pool that had a hole in it out there. It sounded like a fun idea but good thing I only paid $5 dollars for it at a garage sale because it didn't last very long!

We had such a fun day sledding and made lots of fun memories!

3/3/2012
This week I was only out garage saleing for hour because I had sick babies but I still found plenty to blog about! Here is what I got this week.
Fossil hand bag-$3.
4T girls dress for Jaysa -$2
Another dress for Jaysa-$2. This will be a cute Easter dress.
adorable floral print jumper- $1
Brand new 3-6 month dress from Old Navy. $1
3T white and gold swim suit from the GAP
dance leotard. Jaysa just started gymnastics and we only have one leotard right now because I can't find any that I think are cute and reasonably priced in stores so this will help out for now.
More clothes for Jaysa. Two pairs of pants and two shirts. $1 a piece.
Size 8 Converse shoes. These will fit Jaysa soon. They were a little dirty on the toe but I just took a magic eraser to them and now they look good as new!

So cute! I only paid $1 dollar for them!
I also got me another pair of purple shoes. These are from the Shiekh shoe store.
I also bought these. I have a pair of these in a tan color and I LOVE them. They are the MOST comfortable heel I have and whenever I want to look nice but have to walk a long way I put these on.
I bought mine from Pac Sun several years ago and paid $50 for them!
As you can see they have been well used. I paid $1 for the green ones!

DEAL OF THE DAY
Antique amoire. (not the table)
Here is my deal of the day today. When I walked up to this garage sale and saw this antique amiore I thought, only in my dreams would I be able to afford something like that. I asked the guy how much he wanted for it. When he said $400 I did my best to not let my eyes bug out of my head. That was so cheap for an antique piece like this! Even though it was a great deal it still was not in my price range. I told the guy I loved it but it was a little out of my price range. He then said, "what's your price range, because I want you to have it." He explained to me that he paid 1,000 for it and had been carrying it around with each move for the last few years. He was just ready to get rid of it. I was able to talk him down from $400 to $260! On the outside I was trying to hold my composure but on the inside I looked like this!
I have never seen anything like this at a garage sale. This is a great antique piece and I can't wait to get it up in my house so I can show you!

THIS IS A MAN'S WORLD!
Here is what I found this week that you men might have found interest in!
4 tires with rims for a 2008 Ford Truck- $450
Pretty nice Dremel scroll saw for $20
Circular saw for $20 with the case.
20x10 wheels 6 lug. They wanted $700 or OBO for them.
For you men out there that like to cook. Brand new pressure cooker for $15
Brand new fan for the shop- $15
Grill cover -$5
Brand new extension cords. He wanted anywhere from $5 to $15 on these. They had a nail gun and other tools as well for pretty cheap.
Smoker- $15. I bought one a lot like this one for C.J. about 2 or 3 years ago and paid $17 for it and we have loved it!
Nice fishing poles. Good fishing equipment always goes really fast.

Here is one of C.J.'s fishing poles we found him at a garage sale
A year ago we bought him a fishing rod and reel like this one for his birthday. He had really been wanting a bait-caster. We bought one from Walmart for 70 bucks which was pretty cheap for the one he got. That weekend while garage selling he found this one and bought it for 15. This one is much nicer and $55 dollars cheaper!
This is an Abu Garcia bait caster
Hunting Bow for $30. I know this one isn't very nice but I just wanted to show that they are out there. I have actually seen quite a few while garage saleing and some have been really nice.
Here is C.J.'s bow we bought for him at a garage sale a while back.
C.J. was always wanting to get into bow hunting but never wanted to spend all the money for a new bow and all the equipment and not have it work out so I bought this bow at a yard sale for under $30. He had to get a few things for it but has not spent near $100 and has been on elk hunts two years in a row with this bow.
